i have this science homework and it says “in terms of atoms and electrons what do chemical formulas show” so can you please help if you know the answer
i have said that i think it will be:
chemical formulas is a way of expressing info about the atoms that constitute particular chemical compounds.

Ok Chemical formulas show us many things about elements and elemental compounds. They include:
- The charge of a particular element’s atom, that is, the number of electrons in its valence shell
- The ratio of atoms that constitute to an overall neutral molecule. e.g. H20 = 2 hydrogen- and 1 oxygen2-
- The physical state of a particular element or compound, that is, either (s) for solid, (l) for liquid or (aq) for aqueous [solution in water]
Hope that helps and good luck.
Atoms-
Chemical formulas show us how many atoms there are
For example in CO2 there is 1 carbon atom and 2 oxygen atoms.
Electrons-
They show us if it is positive or negative. Like H+ and H-.
When electrons have been lost the atom will be positively charged.
When they have been gained, the atom will be negative.
